The concept of the package was developed four years ago when our sister company, Excel Direct, wanted to find a way to provide a solution to the website needs of their existing customers. Excel Direct has, for 30 years, produced a range of colour advertising cards and brochures for companies the length and breadth of the UK. As the internet became more important for businesses, they were being contacted on an almost daily basis by customers wanting help to put a website together. The choices then were much the same as they are now. Build it yourself, use a one-man band, who may be gone tomorrow, or an expensive national company offering you templated sites at high prices. They put together a package for their customers, and that has developed in to what XL-2.NET offers today - unrivalled web design and unrivalled value for money.

For the majority of businesses a 'brochure' style of site is all you need. The ability to give customers, and prospective customers, up to date information about your business, you products and your services. The scrolling box at the side of this page give you 10 good reasons to have a website - but you already know you need web design or you wouldn't be here!

But the benefits don't stop there. How many forms do you need to send to your customers? They could download them from your site. How many times do people phone to ask when you're open, what's on your lunch menu, can you give my son a single MMR, how much to move is to Croatia. You get the idea. Our standard package is not suitable for businesses selling online, but we are happy to put together a package for you based on your individual needs. Domain Name

If you already have a domain name we'll help you move it to our servers. And if you don't, we'll suggest the right domain name for your business and host your new site on that.

We really do design every site from scratch! We use your existing colour scheme - or help you decide on a new one - and use the images that are going on the site to inspire our web designers.

photography

Images help make your site original, and add the degree of personality that makes your site stand out. Some of our customers have shots they are happy with, but many don't. And for those that don't we'll send one of our photographers to take pictures for you. No Charge!

Email

All our custom sites now benefit from their own XL-2.NET control panel for email and webmail. You'll be able to send and receive email using your domain name (e.g. info@yourbusiness.co.uk), not only from your PC, but by using our webmail portal you can send and receive from any internet connected computer in the world.

site updates

Site updates are important, and it's important that they are done properly.That's why we include 4 updates to your site a year without charge. Just email us the information you need updating and we will do the rest.

search engine submission

Important - but not as important as building the site properly in the first place. If the content is interesting and changes regularly, and your Key Words (the words or string of words people seraching for you are likely to use in a search engine) are in your site and properly used, you will get listed. But don't worry, we do submit your site to the places that count - Google, Yahoo, MSN & DMOZ.

These are the ones that count. There are literally thousands more search engines, but almost all of them take their searches from the above.
